Upcoming Product: IPR3500 Wall Mounted Terminal

The forth member of the IP Communicator® product family is the IPR3500 that is designed to mount on a wall in an office, or aboard a Navy vessel. It utilizes the same hardware as the IPR5000 unit simply wrapped into a different form. Supporting a completely sealed design with a one-piece molded back and intended to be screwed into a cut-out in the wall, the IPR3500 will provide all the features of the other IP Communicator® products in a nice industrial radio look. Powered from Power Over Ethernet (which is also supported on the IPR5000 and IPR4000 models), a single Ethernet connection is all that is needed. No in-the-wall power is supported, only the power delivered from the Ethernet cable. An external connector is provided for accessing the cellular data network when used. Both WiFi and GPS are optional and typically not used.

The front LCD display is the same as the IPR5000 but the keypad is more expanded. A numeric keypad is provided to allow Personal Identification Numbers (PIN) entry assuring a secure terminal when not in use. When the IPR3500 is not logged on as a user terminal it performs as an intercom terminal. The Dispatch positions are the only users who can initiate intercom calls and broadcast when the terminal is in the idle mode (The mode when the user is not logged on). When a user is paged, they simply find the closest terminal, log-on with their unique PIN number and now the terminal is quickly configured as their unique position. The user can now operate and communicate like a radio over channels and talk groups. They can also talk directly with the dispatch operator. Because the IPR3500 is an IP Communicator® product, any users using a IP Communicator® product can be communicated with, either on-ship or off-ship as is the case when mounted on a vessel.

Another feature only available on the IPR3500 is the video function. The IPR3500 contains an integrated camera that directs video from the terminal to the receiving users when the Push To Talk button is pressed. This enables a video conference image (if live video is not desired when operating over a satellite link), or live video to all who are receiving the PTT event. Users receiving the signal on IPR5000 or IPR4500 can also receive a video image of the talker if the system administrator enables system wide video (not yet supported). If not enabled, then the video is limited to other IPR3500 terminals and computers that are operating on the PTT call. The video feature opens up the markets that will benefit from the use of the IPR3500.
